A Taube (die Taube) is a female pigeon or dove.

A Tauber, is a cock pigeon.

The droppings of pigeons and other birds used to be known as just lime (limestone is created from these droppings).

It is used in making mortar and cement.

Liming is the process of cementing or smearing with birdlime.

So it may be that a dauber (plasterer) took the droppings from a Taube or Tauber and dabbed (daubed) them on the wattle to make the ceiling.

A little Dab or Daub will do you.

Just what was Brillcream made of?
