Hello,
I read your post and was wondering if there is a connection with my family. My grandmother was Carmela D'Auria, she came to the US Feb. 1914. She initially stayed in New York with relatives before moving to Newark, N.J. She was born in Caposele, Italy. She had five sisters. I know from stories my mother used to tell that my Grandmother's Uncle owned a bank in Newark, New Jersey.
Carmela D'Auria married Alfonso D'Elia, he came to the United States May, 1914.
Carmela and Alfonso went back to Italy in 1955 to sell her property of an olive plantation that was given to her from her father when she got married. Carmela died in Italy from a stroke June, 1956.

Carmela D'Auria's (my grandmother) mother's name was Grace Sozio maried peter D'Auria.

Alfonso D'Elia's (my grandfather) mothers name was Columbia Russomano and she maried Joseph D'Elia also from Caposele, Italy.

I have pictures of relatives in italy but don't know who they are. My parents are both deceased now so I cannot ask any questions. I would like to go to Italy as I have never been there.
If anyone has any information regarding any of the D'Auria sisters - I don't think they came to the US.
In any case I am now 60 and interested to know of any Aunts or cousins in Italy.
Thank you for your time.
Carmela Judy Ciallella
