Mr. Davenport, I am a Davenport researcher. If Tully Davenport is the brother of Richard Davenport his parents are John Davenport and Zilpah Spruill. Tully Davenport b. 1 Feb 1814 NC d. 15 Feb 1885 buried Davenport Cem, Colonial Beach, Tyrrell Co., Married 1st Ann Eliz(beth) b. 3 Apr 1825 d. 24 Feb 1862. With his first wife he has Caroline Virginia, John Walter, Hardy b. 1 Jan 1854 d. Feb 1855, Mary b. 11 Jan 1858 d. 22 Feb 1858, William S. D. 17 dec 1924 Washington Co. Married Elizabeth Henrietta Blount 14 Nov 1883, Lee Mill Twp, Washington Co., NC, James E. married Corinne Whitehurst 6 Oct 1886 Plymouth, NC.

Tully married 2nd Mary Etta Norman b. 4 Feb 1829 d. 1 May 1908. Married on 27 Oct 1862 Washington Co. His children with her are Carlton A. born 16 Jan 1863 Tyrrell Co., died 3 Sept 1895 Tyrrell buried Colonial Beach. Arametta "Mettie" married Starke Hassell 9 Jan 1889 Columbia.

On the 1860 census Tully is in Tyrrell Co.,. His occupation is Sheriff. Real Estate $2500, Personal property $8440 includes several slaves.

After the death of Hugh Davenport 1836, Tully is given power of attorney for Nelson Davenport. Nelson is the brother of Hugh. According to the power of attorney Nelson is in Alabama.

Richard Davenport is also in Tyrrell Co. with his second wife Mary Ann Owens. He leaves will in Tyrrell Co., 1866. In that will he leaves all to his son Lewellyn Davenport. If his son does not reach 21 then all goes to Edward S. Davenport.

Now Edward S. Davenport is the son of George W. Davenport and is raised by James F Davenport and his wife Matilda Ann Spruill after the death of his father. The land left to Edward according to his father's will is in Washington Co.

James F. Davenport is the line I am trying to trace. From the will of William Warren Davenport it states James is his brother. They have a sister named Emma Davenport Cratch. Still looking to make connection for James Davenport.

I would like the Davenport I research for to take the DNA test. However, he is a 100% disabled veteran and does not feel he can afford the test. Of course I believe his line will go back to the Richard Davenport and Joannah.

Do you have any information that may help with James Davenport?

Thanks,
Ellen Kroll
