Ellen: I am so glad to hear from you. James F.(franklin I believe)Davenport married my great grand mother's sister. My great grand mother was Celia Ann Spruill and my great grandfather was James Madison Davenport. My line, as I can prove it at this point, is: Douglas Harold Davenport b. 1942, Earl Hallet Davenport b. 1912-d.1971, James Doctrine Davenport b.1858-d.1939, James Madison Davenport b.1825-d. abt.1875, William May Davenport b. abt.1775-d. abt.1838, John Davenport( which John is my problem). James Madison's mother was named Nancy. I believe her maidan names was either Alexander or Sawyer. James Madison had a brother named William May Davenport Jr. and they both lived in Cherry in Washington County until after the Civil War. James and Celia then moved to Pea Ridge. Contact me at haroldns@bellsouth.com regarding a stipend for the DNA test for your client. Several of my cousins have setup a fund to have DNA tests done for Albemarle Davenports that have an interest in our family history. Look forward to hearing from you,D.Harold Davenport
