Chris, I have very little information on Sarah Susan Davenport. In the 1860 census for Cannon County she is with an uncle, Thomas Whitlock Davenport and is 9. She married S.A. Burnett on February 1, 1870. She is with Sam Burnett 22 in Rutherford County in 1870. She is 18. I have not found her after this. S.A. Burnett married M.L.F. Burnett on January 4, 1877. I assumed that this was the same S.A. Burnett and that Sarah had died before 1877. There is a M.F.Burnett 13 in the family of a Thomas Burnett in Rutherford County in 1860. This is not the same Thomas who was the father of S.A. I have found nothing more on S.A. Burnett. The 1880 census for Cannon County Has this entry: Burnett, Martha 23, Sarey 6, Lizie 2, John 1. My guess was that this was the M.L.F. Burnett who married S.A. Burnett and that he had died. I also concluded that Sarey who was born before this marriage was the daughter of Sarah and S.A. and that the last two were Martha's children. If the S.A. you have found in Alabama is this one then my conclusions are wrong. I have been researching these Davenports for several years and am now preparing to publish a book on them. If we can determine that your family is a part of the descendants of these Davenports, I would be glad to include them. I would be interested in knowing the source of your information on S.A. and Sarah. Does it come from family records and traditions? Have you found the family in the 1880 census? You asked about Sarah's parents and siblings. Her father was married at least 5 times, had children by at least three of his wives. He died sometime after 1880. One tradition says he was buried in the Cherry Cemetery in Cannon County. There is no tombstone for him. His last wife was buried there and has a tombstone. Sarah's mother died before 1855. Burial place is unknown. I have too much information on the family to type here. Carl Notify Administrator about this message?
