hi

i recently posted info on the goode forum re my interest in my goode and harris family who moved from the lunenburg/ charlotte co, va area to the laurens/ newberry cos, sc area.

as indicated this was my mackerness goode, sr's son samuel goode, who married jemima davenport, daughter of joseph davenport, who died 1788 newberry co, sc.

also, as indicated, a john davenport was one of the purchasers of my william harris, jr/ frances rodger's 1799 laurens co, sc estate sale.

i know, per joseph davenport's 1799 newvberry co, sc will that he did not have a son john davenport but it would seem that this john davenport was perhaps related to joseph davenport.

can someone identfy this john davenport who would have been a purchaser of my william harris, jr's 1799/ 1800 laurens co, sc estate sale?

he may also have been the same john davenport, per this laurnens co, sc deed, and who also died 1807 laurens co, sc.

laurens co, sc deed book F, page 523, 1797, stephen c wood and wife, sarah, to john davenport for $ 300, 150 acres on reedy river part of 200 acre grant to nathan hampton conveyed to joseph pinson bordered on david anderson; george writght; william mitchell; lewis banton. witnesses: thomas davenport, sr and jr; lewis banton. zech bailey, j.p. dower renunciation of wife sarah, william mitchell, j.q.

laurens co, sc will book C-1, page 268, 1807, john davenport, decd, will proven by jonathan johnston and william roberson; john roberson, executor. 1806, will of john davenport: legatees: wife, mildred; sons: ransom; thomas; william; richard; and david davenport; mentions land purchased from hugh abernathy. executors: john roberson and frederick burtz. witnesses: jonathan johnston; william roberson; and howard pinson.

both my william harris, sr/ frances goode and their son, my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers, as well as my mackerness goode, sr and jr, had ca 1770 grants in now laurens co, sc in this same little river area of laurens/ newberry cos, sc. their patents can be found in the motes book re the saluda and little river settlements of laurens/ newberry cos, sc.

joseph davenport signed for the grant for my mackerness goode, sr and it was my mackerness goode, sr's son samuel goode, who married jemina davenport, daughter of joseph davenport who died 1788 in newberry co, sc and per his newberry co, sc will, joseph davenport named samuel goode as his son-in-law.

my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers died 1799 laurens co, sc. a john davenport was a purchaser at his estate sale. i cannot identify this john davenport but think he was probably related to joseph davenport.

again, can someone identify this john davenport of laurens co, sc and tell me how he may have been related to joseph davenport??

thanks.
