Hi Belva,
I saw your post of a month ago and you raised a good question about the John Davenport of Laurens Co., SC and how he might be related to Joseph Davenport whose daughter, Jemima, was married to Samuel Goode. The truth is that the John Davenport of Laurens County was not related to Joseph. One would think that two Davenport families living in neighboring counties would surely be related. But I descend from Joseph's brother, Francis Davenport of Newberry and have worked on this line for about 30 years. John was an extremely rare name in that family and the oldest known John in the Newberry Davenports was a great grandson of Joseph who was born about 1793. R. L. Guffin
