Overton Connection

I just found out that our Overton's somehow connect with the Davenports, but I don't know how. In looking through several postings on this site, I noticed several Overton Davenports. Where did the Overton connection come from? My ancestor, we think, was born in Illinois, about 1849, 1850? His name is William Overton, but he could possibly have been adopted or possibly raised by grandparents and took their name? I don't know. The story is that his father died, and his mother couldn't raise all the kids alone, so she farmed them out. But, we cannot find out who his parents or sibings are. Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks Becky
