I wish I could answer your questions; I've wondered the same. I ran into the same situation and vowed to never check One World Trees in the future.
I am also related to John Davenport, but mine is b. 1814 in PA. There may be one further back, but I haven't found him.
I also have Holmes in my ancestry and was wondering if there could possibly be a connection.
You didn't, however, mention any locations, which is are very important details.
