I have just been told of a Laura Davenport who is not listed in the family Bible altho' the potential father is. His name is Joseph H. Davenport (b.15 March 1827, d. 24 Oct.1892 all in Phillips, ME; m.Sylvia B. Pickard, b. 3 May 1826 in Temple, ME and d. 25 Jan. 1907 in Phillips, ME.)
This Laura is supposed to have married a Canadian Indian whose last name was Turner and they are supposed to have lived on a reservation in Canada. Perhaps she is not listed for the very plausible idea that she was disowned. Her name and father's name are both listed in the Maine State Archives. Would LOVE to hear from someone who would have any info on this lady.
With a name such as Turner, is it also plausible that Mr. Turner was only part Indian?
