Roger: Thank you for posting the death notice for Tully Davenport. While he is part of my family, i.e. The Albemarle Davenports, he was not directly in my line. At best Tully was a first cousin or a first cousin once or twice removed from my great grandfather James Madison Davenport. b. 1823- d. 1878 in Washington County NC. The name Tully came from Tully families living in Hyde County during the 1700's. To date I have not been able to determine Tully's parents names. We have about ten Davenport men born around 1800 that we have not been able to place. Tully was a Unionist during the Civil War, as were many of the Davenports. After the war he became the Sherrif of Tyrrell County for awhile. Is the Raliegh Christian Advocate you mention availble in the NC archives in Raliegh? Thanks again, D. Harold Davenport
