Mrs. SARAH LENORA DAVENPORT
Mrs. Sarah Lenora Davenport died at the family home at Wirt, December 28, following a heart attack. She was a pioneer resident of the Wirt community, living there since 1918. She was affectionately known as Grandma Davenport. Funeral arrangements await the arrival of sons from California and Arizona. The body is at the Collier Brothers Funeral Home.
SARAH LENORA DAVENPORT was born October 2, 1864 at Aberdeen, Mississippi. She moved to Indian Territory in 1870, locating at Monroe, Oklahoma. She was married to JOHN FRANKLIN DAVENPORT in 1882. He preceded her in death in 1903. Eight children were born to this union, four of who are deceased. She became a member of the Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful Christian until death. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church at Wirt. Surviving are the following children, LEONARD L. DAVENPORT of Bellflower, California, EZRA O. DAVENPORT of McMann, JAMES L. DAVENPORT of Warren, Arizona, FRANK DAVENPORT of Wirt; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two sisters Mrs. JESS DUDLEY of Heavener, Oklahoma and Mrs. MOLLIE COURINGTON of Wilcox, Arizona.
