I'm trying to locate the final resting place for Robert H. Davenport (b. @ 1825 VA) and family. I'm really trying to find his daughter, Mary (b. @ 1846 MS). I believe she (Mary Davenport) married James W. Henry Garner 1860-1870 in probably Scott Co., MS. Three of James' known children have Mary (Ellen or Jane) Davenport as the mother on their death certificates, in TX. I'm just going to lay out what I have, and hope someone might be able to help fill in the gaps, or tell me I'm chasing the wrong gal. 1870 Cotton Plant, Woodruff Co., AR Garner, James W. 28 M W Farm Labor MS Mary 23 F W keeping house MS Martha J. 4 F W MS William H. 2 M W MS Alfred H. 8/12 M W AR Dec Elisha 19 M W Farm Labor MS 1880 Sharpsburg, San Patricio Co., TX Garner, James W M 40 Wagon Freighter MS TN AL Emma W F 38 wife || TN AL Martha W F 15 dau TX MS ___ William W M 12 son TX MS___ Alfred W M 10 son TX MS ____ Joseph W M 7 son TX MS ____ Hutchinson W M 5 son TX MS ____ Marion W M 8 son TX MS ____ Collins Clement W M 25 servant teamster AR James and family were in MS for the 1860 census: 1860 Dist. 5, Scott Co., MS EB Garner 47 M farmer TN MJ Garner 37 F SV Garner 19 F WH Garner 17 M James W. R H Davenport 36 Farmer VA Martha J 33 VA Mary V 14 MS Sarah 11 MS Louisa 8 MS Nancy 3 MS 1850 Kemper Co., MS (near Wilson Davenport - believe there is a connection) R H Davenport 26 farmer VA Martha 25 VA Mary D 4 MS Sarah A 2 MS which fits with a marriage I found in Halifax Co., VA for Robert H Davenport to Martha Jane Burton on 6 Sep 1845. (there were marriages there for Wilson Davenport, too) 1880 R H Davenport is in Cass Co., TX, as well as 1900. In 1900 he's in the household of R.S. Arnold (b. Jan 1866 MS) as "grandfather", and his son, J.H. /J. Henry (b. Sep 1867 MS) Davenport is also in the household as "uncle". I've looked in the TX Deaths, 1890-1976, and can't seem to locate R H or J H Davenport. Thank you for any help you can provide. Notify Administrator about this message?
