This might be the right family. The SSDI for Benedict/Benedetto Davi gives 15 April 1873 as his date of birth and for his death gives June 1966 in Islip Terrace, Suffolk, NY, but I have nothing from family records to indicate that this is the “right” Benedict Davi; however, he would be old enough to be Jennie Davi’s father and the 1903 date of immigration for Jennie on the census would be consistent with the information for Antonio Davi on the passenger manifest. If the 1903 date is correct, Jennie’s Benedetto Davi would appear to be the one, born ca 1872, who came over on the Manuel Calvo from the port of Naples (23 September 1903) and arrived in New York on 14 October 1903. His destination is given as “My brother-in-law, 340 East 6th St., New York, “ and his last residence looks like “Partiuco.” He appears to be traveling with a Vincenzo Davi, single, no age given, same residence. The passengers listed immediately above with the same residence look like Melchiore DeDia and Girolano Perrone. I do not know whether the Davis from my husband’s family were Sicilian or Neapolitan, but the Terranas were from Sicily, so I would guess that the Davis were, too.

There is another Benedetto Davi who arrived before 1910; his approximate date of birth is 1880 and his destination is given as “My brother Davi Salvatore, 538 S. 14th St., NY.” He is from Palermo. The arrival date is given as 10 June 1906; do you know when exactly your Antonio Davi arrived?

The information on Jennie’s parents I obtained from her Social Security application. One of Jennie’s sons was named Benedict. The address for Jennie and Vincent Terrana in the1910 and 1920 censuses is Degraw Street, Brooklyn, Kings, NY and in the 1930 census it is 65th Street, Brooklyn, Kings, NY.
