Looking for any data on James Davidson, stonecutter in Petersburg, Va., 1816-1824.
James Davidson is listed in the 1820 US Census, Dinwiddie County, Petersburg and in the 1830 US Census, Dinwiddie County, Petersburg as between 30 & 40, with 2 (5-10), two males (10-15), one male (15-20), two males (20-30), two females under 5, and his wife between 30 & 40. In 1860 he listed with three slaves, female 55, male 26, male 21. He was then sixty-five, and listed as a Sexton.
A James Davidson stonecutter is listed in the 1796 New York City directory I don't know if they are one of same.
Most importantly he did the grave stones of the Skipwiths at Prestwould Plantation, Mecklenburg County.
