Per the lady who goes by "qvarizona" on the RootsWeb message boards (see the message board there for Rockbridge Co., VA):
James Gilmore Davidson and his wife Mary "Polly" Gilmore were the parents of Madison G. Davidson. They were also the parents of a daughter who married a Mr. McKee, as well as another daughter who married a man named Andrew Lindsay. The daughter who married Andrew Lindsay was named Sally Gilmore Davidson (b. about 1810 and married about 1834). Andrew Lindsay eventually married second to the daughter of a Gilmore (but I don't have the name of this second wife). Per "qvarizona," SOME of the above comes from "Old Monmouth and Its Times" by J. D. Morrison (note: she also found some errors in that document).
I find it interesting that Mary "Polly" Gilmore's mother, Sarah "Sally" (Davidson) Gilmore, was out of a different Davidson/Davison family (or "branch," at least) than the Davidson family of James Gilmore Davidson. There no proof at this time that these two Davidson/Davison families were "blood related," but maybe the above "intermarriage" provides a clue that they were, in fact, "blood related" (but then again, these two Davidson/Davison families MIGHT have just been "friends and neighbors"). We need a living male Davidson/Davison DNA donor from each family to be sure. We have a donor from the James Gilmore Davidson family (at least he has ordered the testing kit, as of the date of this post), but we are still looking for a donor who traces back to the other Davidson/Davison family (the family of the John Davidson/Davison (he left a will in Rockbridge in 1802) who apparently married Mary Allison).
