John Davison, Bertie Co., NC and John Davidson, Halifax/Pittsylvania Co VA

I'm hoping someone can provide clarification for me on the lineage of John Davidson who was married to Hannah (Hughson) and died in 1770 in Halifax Co., VA. (sons Abraham, Joseph and John)

Most researchers show this John to be the son of John Davison of Bertie Co., NC., but I'm having a little trouble with the time flow.

I have an abstract of a will for John Davison in Bertie Co., NC who died in 1756 - probably Sept., or October.

North Carolina Will Abstracts, 1660-1790
Name: John Davison
LOCATION: Bertie County
Will Date: 06 Aug 1752
Probate Date: - Oct 1756
Will: Son and Executor: John ("plantation whereon I now live"). Grandson: John Davison (land on Chinkopin Creek). Granddaughter: Mary Davison. Wife and Executrix: Mary Witnesses: John Freeman, Abram Harrill, Jacob Lasiter, Thomas Harrill. Clerk of the Court: Benjn. Wynns.

I'm presuming he is the John referred to as the father of John who died in Halifax in 1770, and also assume that the abstract names his son, John, as the executor.

My problem is that according to the pension record of Abraham, John and Hannah Davidson are in Guilford Co., NC at that time. Abraham says he was born in Guilford in 1755.

Is it possible (or credible) that the John in Bertie who is the executor of his father's will, could also be the John in Guilford?

Does anyone have different informaton on the John of Bertie Co., that could help explain this supposed discrepancy. I would appreciate help on this if anyone has an answer.

Ruth
