I'm looking for information on my paternal great grandparents who live in Quebec at the turn of the 19th to 20th century. The only info I have about my relatives in the past is that my great grandmother, Mary Laidlaw Shaw lived in Quebec at 593 St John (street?). Her husband died in Beauport on October 24th 1905. His sister, named Alicia Charlotte Balfour, died the next year, 1906, and appears to have been born on or around 1858. My grandmother was born September 23, 1901, named Rita and as a young woman went by the stage name Ola Joyce in a traveling vaudeville troupe where she met my grandfather, Frank "Red" Davies. Rita married "Red", became Rita Ola Davies, and they settled in Miami, FL. I believe they owned a gas station for a time Coconut Grove, FL. Their son, my father, was Joseph Frank Davies. As I understand it there was an explosion at the station that claimed the life of "Red" when my father was still a young man. Rita died in 1994.
Davies is such a common name I imagine it will be difficult finding information but I thought I would try here.
Thanks for any leads,
