Dayle Davies obituary from Las Vegas Review-Journal Saturday, July 28, 2012
Michael Dayle Davies, 72, an early pioneer of Page, Ariz., and a resident of Las Vegas since 1962, passed away Tueaday, July 24, 2012. Born May 30, 1940, "Dayle" was the second of five children of the late Marlin Owen Davis and Elva Dayley of Idaho Falls, Idaho, both of whom preceded him in death. Upon the recent passing of Mary, his beautiful wife of 52 years, Dayle was lost. Although his family and many friends tried to fill the void and encourage him to go on, he longed to be with Mary. Together, they raised three children, shard a love of NASCAR, and enjoyed their feline friends. Dayle also enjoyed racing and was a drag racer at the Stardust Raceway. In 1994, he was awarded a NASCAR Gold driver's license, valid in Winston Cup and several other classes. Dayle served briefly in the U.S. Navy, then found his true calling as a mechanic. His outstanding mechanical ability shined while working on vehicles during his employment at the Glen Canyon Dam project in Page. His most recent and long-term employment was at Wells Cargo, Las Vegas, where he worked his way up from truck driver to manager of the scale house. Friends gravitated to Dayle's home workship to enjoy his sense of humor, seek mechanical advice, and share a drink. There was always friends in the garage. Even in retirement, Dayle's shop was a fun place to be. Dayle leaves behind his son, JoHn and daughter-in-law, Tina; granddaughter, Nicole and grandson, Skylar; his son, Mike and daughter-in-law, Stephanie; grandsons, Chad and Cole; granddaughter, Senna Marie; his son, Derrel and wife, Kim; and his brother, Kyle Tohlen and wife of Vallejo, Calif. Dayle will be missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Nevada SPCA (702) 873-SPCA (7722).
