I am from Matamoros and my grandfather's name was Fidel Davila, he was a police officer in Matamoros back in the 20's, and lost a leg while aprehending a bad guy in 1923. He passed away in 1977, his sons and daughters were:
Fidel Jr, Guillermo, Gregorio, Daniel, Amelia, Angela, Santa.
He was married to Amelia Gonzalez
We lived in Matamoros for many years, now we lived in Brownsville and some of my cousins. Most of my uncles stayed in Matamoros. My grandfather lived in el Rancho Las Maravillas and received several acres of land in Matamoros from the Ejido 2o De Noviembre. If this story sounds familiar, then I can give you more details of him. I really don't know most of my grandfather's relatives, but my father remembers evrybody uncluding their descendants.
My email is jose.davila2@us.army.mil
