Susan Davis Connecticut to Port Orange, Florida
Hi, I'm looking for any info on Susan Davis who appears in the Port Orange, Volusia County, FL 1870 census. Census gives her from Conn, age 53, b. abt. 1817, running a boarding house in Port Orange. Census shows My GGrandfather William Eldridge Johnson, age 21, sailor, from England (Bahamas) boarding with her and a Daniel H. Davis, age 18 from Bahamas. Somehow I don't think it was not a coincidence that he was boarding with her. William Eldridge Johnson b. 1850 is from Hope Town, Abaco, Bahamas. His parents are: Thomas & Charlotte (Bethel) Johnson and it is believed Williams grandfather was Nathan Johnson born in Mystic Connecticut and moved to the Bahamas and later Key West. Nathan Johnson had 3 marriages and I'm a DNA match with a male descendant from the 2nd marriage, Henry Baker Johnson who moved his family from the Bahamas to Key West in 1840 or 1850s. I'm trying to find out if Susan Davis is somehow related to Nathan Johnson. I'm only looking for info for Johnson family history.
Port Orange is still the home to many of Thomas & Charlottes descendants.
many thanks
Ted E. Johnson, Jr.
