This Source may prove that Mary Elizabeth Newland who m. John Davis s/o Abel & Mary was the d/o Abraham.
Newland Descendants of John & Margaret, by Ethel J. & Weir H. Bell notes, "With Abraham Newland, Nicholas Newland and Powell Newland each being married in the 1780's
in Fredereick Co. . . it seems a likely possibility that those three young men could have been ...John Newland's first family."
I have previously mentioned a legal problem encountered by Phillip Huffman in Monongalia Co. Phillip failed to pay a debt and was incarcerated until bail was arranged. The initial bondsman petitioned the court to release him from the obligation since he believed he might suffer damage. The court agreed and Phillip returned to jail. Abel Davis provided bail security and Phillip was released. The debt remained upaid and Plaintiff filed suit on the security. Able answered the suit and eventually paid the judgement. Logic suggests Abel provided the bail bond probably at the urging of Mary. I will locate and add the citation.
