John McFarland Davis, Hattie, Minnie, Ten.
I've lost contact with the descendent of Minnie Davis, sibling of John McFarland Davis of Jefferson, Cty Tn.
John shows up in Love, county Ok in 1930 and before that texas . His daughters were Ruby Davis Comer and Hattie Davis Long. Hattie would lost both sons due to tragic events completely apart from each other.
Ruby Davis daughter of John , grandmother to my spouse was white and Cherokee, she married also a mixed person who would not affirm his ethnic background tho the pic of his mother shows her in moccasins and a braid and was known to pack her babies on a cradle board. Since then the photo's I've received leave me speachless as A. Thomas Comer (her father in law) resented whites, yet his son denies his heritage and his daughter in law, Ruby Davis would have no issue with stating she was of cherokee descent and possibly another tribe intermarried with whites.
I'd like to sort this out as we've several tribal blends in the family and I'd like to be as historical as possible. What I would like to do is connect John to his family listed in the 1880 census under Alexander Davis who was listed as a teacher...I'm somewhat confused as there are no more living Davis in our direct line so I need to get collateral info.
proof of native blood is NOT the issue....'who' and 'when' however would be interesting to know.
