obit Mrs. Caroline Davis (1849-1923)d Grand Rapids MI
I'm looking for a Caroline Davis, probably an aunt or cousin of this one. Published June 26, 1923 Grand Rapids Herald (Kent County, Michigan).
"Mrs. Caroline Davis, aged 74 died Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L____ Bellis (or Belles), 126 College, av. N. E. Service will be held at the residence at 10:30 Wednesday morning. Interment will be at Griggsville, Ill."[Griggsville is in Pike County. This Caroline's birth calculates to 1849.]
My Caroline Davis was born Caroline Henderson 1832 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. She married Elihu Henderson 1850 in Walker Township, Kent County, Michigan. After Elihu's death Caroline Henderson Simon(s) married Anson Davis (in 1902) in Cedar Springs, Kent County, Michigan. Her children were Minnie L. Simons (b. 1866 in Newaygo, Michigan), William Simons, Charles A. Simons, Elihu A. Simons, Jr.
Minnie Simons married (Cadillac, Wexford County, 1884) Henry Eri Day. They are my great grandparents. They had three sons: Clyde, Charles, and Leon. Henry and Minnie divorced in 1902. Minnie married second Oscar Perl. Leon adopted his step father's last name. I have not found a formal adoption. One of the witnesses at the wedding in Cedar Springs was a Raymond Pearl/Perl.
This Caroline living on College could have been a great aunt or a cousin.
After Elihu Simons
