DAVIS Lands and Deeds, Spartanburg Co, SC-A. Deason Smith
A. Deason Smith was researching THOMAS DAVIS of Spartanburg (see message #28383 this forum, and we ran into each other.Sadly, he has since passed away. He found many land records with Thomas Davis and including David Davis (who I was researching) and the extracts are in this important message.John Gray Davis also passed on.He published DAVIS CHRONICLES in 1993 but I didn't have access to it until a few years ago.John had spent much money and time researching his family. My copy came from Sandy Cole Wainwright, for which I am grateful. I was most interested from his ancestor Elias Mabry Davis (mine was the brother of Elias, Alexander M. Davis) and earlier. At first I didn't believe John had the right ancestors but I now believe he did EXCEPT for maybe the 1st generation in America connecting us to our Davis immigrant. I have researched the Davis' since 1988 and am as interested as ever but I have had some medical problems that are limiting me.I decided to post what I had that related to our line and where the records could be found for each of those I posted for. John, Warren G. Cantrell (the Cantrell historian) and I all had worked on my Davis' although John didn't want to agree with Warren. There were very few books sold by John.My hopes are that something of what I have posted will help others and if they will post something they have not on this forum, to do so. You can find John Gray Davis, Nashville, TN and A. Deason Smith info on findagrave.
