Major Daniel, Clarksburg, WV; D.A.

The March/April, 2009, issue of American Spirit magazine, put out by the D.A.R., has the following article:

"The Daniel Davisson Chapter, Clarksburg, WV is named for Major Daniel Davisson, known as 'the proprietor of Clarksburg, VA (WV).' He received a royal grant of 400 acres, from which he donated the land for the courthouse, jail, the Hopewell Baptist Church and a cemetery, now called the Daniel Davisson Cemetery. The Daniel Davisson Chapter is the trustee for this cemetery, which is maintained as a historic site. Davisson was also a major of the militia during the American Recolution, commander of Nutter's Fort and a representative in the House of Burgesses."

I am not researching this family and have no further information.
