Jay Day & Nancy Baker? (Missouri/Oklahoma/Arkansas)

I am trying to find some seemingly impossible to find information and need help.

I am trying to trace down my great-grandmother May (Mae) Day's family. She was born Flossie May Day b. 1899 in Arkansas and was left with other relatives from the age of 11 months on.

From what my research shows, May's mom was Nancy Baker (Nancy was married before meeting May's father to CW Griffith and had children) b. 1866 in Arkansas. Nancy died in 1900, so I am told but not certain...which would by why May was then living with Nancy's oldest son from her first marriage at 11 months old. It is believed May's father was Jay Day born in Missouri but that is ALL the info I have on him. I am mostly trying to find all the info I can about Jay, his family and his marriage to Nancy.

The family story says that May's mother was an Indian woman of Cherokee and either Choctaw or Chickasaw descent and disappeared very early in May's life for reasons unknown. Her father was a Private Investigator and had to leave the children with a relative while out on a case (very long term). While gone, the relatives moved and they never found each other again. That is the tale, to which I give very little credit but there it is none the less.
