RUSSELL DAY of Lima, Livingston County, New York
RUSSELL DAY, born 26 October 1791 in Lima, Livingston County, New York, was a son of Russell Day and Anna Chapman. He married ___ Bostwick per Rootsweb posting by Paul Piatkowski pwpiatk (at) yahoo (dot)com.
This Russell Day is a cousin of Russell Day, son of Daniel and Elizabeth (Chamberlain) Day. Someone has attributed the date of 1871 to "Dees and Days of Wales, Ireland and England" and credited to me. Well the book is "The Ancient Families of Dee and Days of Wales, Ireland and England" by George Edward Day updated by Leonard Franklin Day; published in 1972 by Pine Hills Press in Freeman, South Dakota. This book is available at the University of Virginia library, The Library of Michigan, New York State Library in Albany among others. A book by George Edward Day is "The Descendants of Robert Day..in the Male Line."
In the foot note by this other Rootsweb contributor is the date 1781 while Leonard gives the date 1788.So there are many pedigrees in Rootsweb with the wrong date. Now there are Bostwick's in the Day Cemetery in Augusta Township, Kalamazoo County. Paul Piatkowski gives the first common relatives in the ancestry of these two Russells are Benjamin and Margaret (Foote) Day.The same problem happens with Benjamin's mother's, Grace Spencer. Two Grace Spencer cousins were born in the same area. Leonard F. Day gives both cousins whose pedigrees rejoin after a generation. It might behoove you to do the same with Russell Day.
