Notice for Martin Deadwyler descendants and relatives
Posted by: Joe Dickerson (ID *****3970) Date: May 04, 2002 at 14:12:05

Martin Deadwyler, a native of Germany, emigrated to this country aboard the ship Phoenix in 1749 and settled in North Carolina where he lived until 1786, when he and his family migrated to Wilkes (now Elbert) County, Georgia where they settled.
The Deadwyler family cemetery with over 50 gravesites of the descendants and related family of Martin Deadwyler has lain abandoned and uncared for over most of the past century, Since not all the graves have been identified, it is logically assumed that the elder Martin and his wife Anna are also buried at the site. Marble and granite monuments, crypts and headstones mark most of the graves and identify among others, a Revolutionary Patriot, an honored member of the Georgia Legislature and a Civil War veteran who died of wounds received in the battle of Chicamauga.
Now a committee of Deadwyler descendants are working together with the Deacons of Dove's Creek Baptist Church (erected on Deadwyler land in 1828) to create a trust fund for the restoration and preservation of our ancestors final resting place.      Please visit the pages of our website and review our preservation plan. Gravesites are numbered and identified. We welcome your comments, corrections and additions
Please make a donation to the Deadwyler Cemetery Trust Fund to honor and restore the final resting place of our ancestors.
Your generosity will help preserve the cemetery and will be greatly appreciated.
Remember, all donations are tax deductible.
Please make checks payable to:
