Richard Deal descendantsTug River Valley
M. McGlynn stated the following on Genforum: "Malachi was married five times. In one of his later marriages, the record indicates that his father was Richard Deal."
The 1830 Pike Co., KY census shows the following:
Malchi Deal (40-50) b. 1780-1790
Joiner Deal (20-30) b. 1800-1810
William Deal (60-70) b. 1760-1770
The aforementioned are all listed as nearest neighbors.
The 1820 Floyd Co., KY census show the following:
David Deal (>45) b.<1775
William Deal (>45) b.<1775
There is also a Richard Deal in 1809 in Floyd? Co., Ky who was "released from Paying levies now and in future".
If you piece all the above information together, it "appears" that there are three brothers including Malachi, David & William who may have been the sons of Richard b. 1730.
William, David & Malachi were all too young to have been the sons of Henry Deel and Frances Ballentine because Frances was already dead in 1720 and Henry died in 1716, which was before they were all born;however, if Richard was born before 1716 he may be the son of Henry & Frances. The problem is that Richard apparently was born about 1730.If this is correct, this would also rule out Richard as being the son of Henry & Frances because he too would have been born after the death of Henry & Frances.Any way it goes, I have a strong suspicion that the Deal descendants in the Tug River Valley are connected somehow to Henry Deel & Frances Bellentine. This suspicion is based on the fact that Henry Deel & Frances Ballentine had a son-in-law named John Willoughby. This surname Willoughby has been used frequently as a first name among many Deal descendants in the Tug River Valley.Since Willoughby is not a common first name, I have often suspected that this first name had to be traced to someone who used Willoughby as a surname.John Willoughby appears to have confirmed this suspicion.
What is everyone's thoughts?Does anybody agree or disagree?

Dorsey
