Note the following:
MALINDA ANN DEAN 1829, Panola Co. TX Gloria B. Mayfield
www.ladytexian.com/txpanola/bios/family/deanma.htmJohn Madison Dean was born about 1784 reportedly "at sea" but both of his younger brothers, James Minton Dean and Jarret Dean, were born in North Carolina ...

There are several bits of misinformation found in the above online record. In response it must be noted that John's name was not John Madison Dean. Indeed, his middle name has never been located or even hinted at what it may have been.

Too, a particular person made a guess that John Dean was born at sea in 1784. However, that remains a guess without benefit of any kind of support. In addition, John died between 1840 and 1850 and no record exists showing exactly where he was born except that the census records of two of John's sons shows he was born either in N.. or S.C.

It must also be recognized that no record exists to support the claim that James Minton Dean, Jarrett Dean and John Dean were brothers. A descendant of both James Minton Dean and John Dean have participated in a DNA test, but the results do not confirm they are brothers, but they are most certainly close relatives.

No descendant of Jarrett Dean has been located to participate in a DNA test, but we remain hopeful that someday one of his descendants will step forward.

We look forward to hearing from any of the descendants of the above to help us with more DNA tests in order to put to rest some of the perpetuated misinformation.
