Deane - Yes, I have to assume that somewhere between the 17th and 19th centuries, someone in my Dean(e) family dropped their "e". I understand that the surname Deane was a contraction for "Deacon", as John and Walter were the Deacons of the church in Taunton. Do you concur with this?
