Hi Diane,
You may be able to help me.. I am descended from William Pulham and Sarah Deane. They married in 1785 in London, where William Pulham was a customs officer. The Pulhams lived in Harwich from at least the late 17thC, and Sarah Deane is listed as being from Harwich in the marriage licence. Sarah died c.1790. Their only son, my GGG grandfather William Pulham, recorded that he spent his infancy with his 'grandfather Deane' and attended Mr Colchester’s endowed school at Dedham, Essex (near Harwich). Despite searching the wills of the Harwich Deanes and the local BDMs for the 18thC extensively, I cannot find the link to the Harwich Deane family. Any assistance greatly appreciated! Cheers Peter
