Some of you may know that one of the trails up Green Mountain in Effingham, NH is the Dearborn Trail. I do not know whether Richard (the last Dearborn son to live in the house at Lord's Hill) or his father cut that trail.
The trail lies on private property. The current owner is interested in selling it, and the Society for Preservation of NH Forests (a non profit that already owns a big piece of the mountain) in interested in buying it. SPNHF's representative told me that a primary objctive is to preserve the Dearborn trail and access to it. I walked this route this past July - it's worth protecting.
Our family (children and grandchildren of the last Dearborn born in that Lord's Hill house) have offered to contribute part of the money SPNHF will need to make the purchase.
Anyone else interested in helping preserve the Dearborn Trail?
