In the 1850 census for Rose Township, Carroll Co., OH, there is a Rebecca DEARDOFF, age 30, no husband listed, but with the following children: Catherine age 9; William H. age 8; Marion (male) age 6; Edgar age 5; Isaac age 3. All were born in OH.
At http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/civil-war-letter-61st-ohio-killed-at-chancellorsville is a record of a past auction of Edgar Deardorf's pencil-written letter from "Strawsburg." I would love to know who bought that letter. If any of you know, please contact me!! I would love to know if it was purchased by a Deardorf descendant and if so, I'd like to share genealogical information.
