I now live in Cromer Norfolk but moved from Welwyn in Hertfordshire where I am only aware of three seperate Deards familes. Each within the area. It is interesting that you think that the connection is with deer, my family dating as far back as the church records go were in the leather trade at Welwyn, then a main staging post on the old A1 road out of London. In the area is Sally Deards lane, Deards End lane, and Deards Wood.
