Hi Janet,
I saw your post and I have some information on the Dearie / Troy family tree. My father passed away one year ago today and since then I have been trying to research my tree also. Unfortunately I should have done it when my grandfather and father were alive.
I am one of 7 Dearie's born to William E Dearie Jr (1933) & Barbara Hannon(1934) (Brooklyn, NY)
My father was the only child born to my grandfather William E Dearie (1902) & Agnes Meehan(1901).
My grandfather was the son of Harry Sumter Dearie Sr (1874) & Catherine Troy there children were (James) Daniel Troy (1896) I have a copy of baptism certificate from the Church of The Holy Name 96th street and Amsterdame Ave NYC 4/20/1896., married Elizabeth Pat Gallagher (1918),

Hand written note,"To clarify the Troy-Dearie situation my brother Dan went to live with my grandparents and just acquired the name Troy since everyone knew him as Danny Troy.

Harry Somers Dearie Jr (1898), Ethel Dearie (1900), William E Dearie (1902) (Grandfather), Charles Percival Dearie (1904), John Aloysious Dearie (1907) married Catherine Agnes Kearny>
Here is what I have uncovered for the Dearie name:
Richard Dearie married Margaret Watt in Scotland they had 5 children John, Richard, James married Emma, Charles (1834) and Alexander. Margaret arrived in New Orleans Dec18th, 1836. Margaret 32 yrs their mother died from pneumonia 7/29/1837. Richard , Alexander and James all served in the confederate army during the civil war.
Richard was wounded and died in a hospital in Fredericksburg Va. James was captured and sent to a POW camp in NYC where he stayed and raised his family of 6 children(James Parker,Henry,Edith,Marguerite and Maude). I have a copy of James discharge papers from the confederate army 1861.
I hope this helps
I currently live in Long Island NY, 1025 Harrison Drive Centerport NY 11721, 631-470-5882
