Oral tradition in our family also directs us to a French Connection. There was a community (Robertsville) with several French surnames in East Tennessee which was displaced by the Manhattan Project during WWII, and my family was related to those people through several different marriages. Also, my red-haired GGGrandmother, Sarah Butler, was from Ireland.
