I can trace also Deas into my family but know that Deas was a name of whaling family who came to Fife, Scotland (Dysart near Kirkcaldy) from Netherlands and Deas or Dease is NOT a Scottish name !!!!!!!!! but a Netherlands/Belgium border area name !!! my grandfather was David William Deas born in Seaton Carew near Hartlepool, co Durham (England) but of Scottish parents who returned to Fife (Dysart) and were in ship carpenter industry - coincidence is that my mother's mother was Hunter from Leslie Fife who married Deas from Dysart - does anyone have info. re. this
