OK. It seems likely that there was more than one family of the name of Deas in the County of Fife around that time.

The oldest that I have is David Deas born in 1845 in Wemyss, Fife who had children called Harriott, female 1874, James in 1877 and Henry in 1884. These three children were born in Burntisland. The family continued to live in Fife in Scotland until their demise. I do not have any contact with relatives of that family apart from my wife who is descended from James Deas and his mariage into the Garland family.

I am finding the same probelems with my own family, (McIntosh) who lived in the north east of england and intermingeled with other families in the north east. I am hoping to make the jump into the scottish records because the english records do not show the date of mariage of the parents or inded the parents of the parents (wow) hope you know what I mean <grin>
