Hej Willy,
My guess is that this forum is for people with a last name of Death. ;-) (It is called Death Family, which would be Död Familj in Swedish. I apologize for my poor Swedish but perhaps you will understand my attempt.)
I suggest that any further queries you need to post about Swedes should be asked on the Sweden forum. Type Sweden into the "Jump to Forum" space at the top right of this page.
You could also post on the Cook County forum. Chicago is in Cook County, Illinois.

Is he this man who died a couple years later than you said? The following page tells how to get the death certificate.

There was a coroner's report with a slightly different date of death. Coroner's reports should be very detailed. The following page tells how to get the coroner's report.

There should have been a report of an accidental death of a Swede in the Swedish American newspapers of the time. It used to be possible to see those newspapers in Växjö, but I think the place with those records might have closed recently. You should be able to check that from Sweden. Those newspapers will be in Swedish.

The Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center in the U.S. will have copies of those same newspapers. You could provide the above information about the death index and the coroner's index and ask them to look in their many Chicago area newspapers for newspaper information about the death.

They have these microfilmed newspapers.
