Peter Deatrick jr spelt his name Detrick. He was born in 1777 in Augusta County, Virginia. He married Mary Magdaline Beard in 1816 in Staunton, Virginia. Her father was Peter Beard. Mary was born in 1785. Peter jr. came with his father in 1816-1817 and settled in Southern Indiana, along with most of his children and wife Mary. They purchased a farm 2 miles south of New Middletown, Indiana. His father pirchased a farm 2 miles southwest of Elizabeth, Indiana. They lived about 5 miles apart. Peter senior is buried in the Deatrick's cemetery on a hill overlooking Little Buck Creek, close to his house, and the Deatrick School House. The cemetery has been fixed up in recent years with a marker from the goverment.
Peter jr. died is buried in Old Salem Church cemetery close to his farm in 1863. His wife died in 1860 and is buried in Pfirmers Chapel Cemetery between Lansville and Corydon, Indiana. Heavy rains and flooding prevented them from being buried beside each other. Both graves are unmarked.
Peter Sr. will is at the Clerks office as well as Jr., along with most of our ancestors. If more info is needed, let me know. I am a direct line of William Philip, Peter jr. brother.
