Deatrick-Beery connection - clarification needed

I come from the William Phillip Detrick/Dedrick line.
Wm Phillip b. 1765 to Henry H b. 1807 to Henry Hyden b. 1836 to John Jacob Larew b. 1879 to Martha b. 1904 to Emmett E b. 1926 to me, Christy.
I have been researching my family lines now for about 10 years. Recently I noticed some major discrepancies with regard to the Jacob Deatrick/Detrick that married 1st Elizabeth Beery and then married 2nd Judith Snell.
I have been reading many of the message boards regarding the lineage of Jacob Deatrick/Detrick b. 1777 or 1784 VA whom married 1.Elizabeth Beery abt 1813, and 2.Judith Snell/Scnell 1826.
There seems to be some confusion here as to who his actual parents are and his actual name. Is it John Jacob or is it John Henry?

First...Half of the researchers say his parents were Peter Detrick Sr. b. 1740/1743 and Margaret Kister b. abt 1750. Most agree that Peter Sr.'s children were William Phillip b. 1765, Peter Jr. b. 1777, John Jacob/John Henry b. 1777 or 1784, Elizabeth abt 1790, Susannah abt 1793, Margaret abt 1796, Jacob bet 1798-1808, Sarah abt 1800, Henry abt 1801, Abraham abt 1803 and Fredrick abt 1805. If Peter Jr was born at the very beginning of 1777 then I can see how John Jacob/John Henry could be born in 1777 as well.

Second...Half of the researchers say his parents were Johann Detrick and Barbara Sites. I do not have much info on this line as I just became aware of them.

Can someone please let me know what his correct name is? John Jacob or John Henry Deatrick/Detrick?
Next, can someone please let me know who his parents really are?

I would really enjoy sharing any info on the Deatrick/Detrick/Dedrick lines. I have quite a bit. Hope to here from someone soon. Either post here or email me direct Thanks, Christy Hyden Short
