Hi Margaret, My name is Joann Downing,
I am writing in regard to something you posted Feb. 21st. 01
A few names match my records in your 1790 census..
I do not have many dates on these people so I'm grabbing at straws here.
Here is what I have. I would greatly appreciate it if you could share anything
that may be a link to what I have...
Sarah Dever (Deaver ?) b. Oct. 9 1787 was my GGG Grandmother on my Dad's side.
(She Married William McDowell Apr. 28th. 1809)
Sarah had 3 brothers that I have record of...
James , John and William
(In what you posted all but William's name appeared. and the year is close too.)
Their parents are;
Hannah Cuverly and John Dever (Deaver?)
(John was 2nd. Lieutenant, Maryland regiment, Continental Army. Commanded by Col. Mordicai Gist at White Plains, N.J. Sep. 9 1778; With General Gates at time of Burgoyne's surrender at Saratoga N.Y. )
Hanna and John settled near Portsmouth, Ohio in 1799
John died in Ohio ( I have no date)
I have nothing on John's parents.
Hanna's Father was DR. Cuverly ~ surgeon for the Continental Army.
I would appreciate if you could share with me anything that you have that might match. I have not found anything farther back with this particular family.
Thank you, Joann Downing
