Burke Co., NC - William DEAVER/DEVER & others
Posted by: Dennis Dover (ID *****6897) Date: August 10, 2002 at 12:48:21

One of my interests is the possible name corruption between DOVER & DEAVER/DEVER in Buncombe County, NC part of which was formed from Burke County. Hope this helps the forum on early Burke County records that I have. Are any of these DEAVER/DEVER "NOT" so? Does anyone have "any" DOVER in their research? The DOVER deeds I have seen for Buncombe are very confusing (too many Dovers). Happy to share what Buncombe County info I have if anyone is interested. A William and Nathan have been transcribed as DOVER when it appears to me that they are DEVER. A William DOVER in the Dover family lore, a first son of a John Dover probably born 1720's ... lived in early NC and York, SC went to western North Carolina (could be Tennessee) never to be heard from again. I have William DOVER in a Reems Creek deed also transcsribed as DEVER.
