I have a Reubin Debord b ca 1836 in KY son of Stephen William Debord and Lucy Ann Delud??. The 1860 cenus fro Lavaca Co TX has R. Debord age 24 b KY listed in household of I. and Lucinda Woodard. Also in 1860 Lavaca census is a Reuben Debord age 24 listed in household of Stephen Debord age 51 b VA. I believe Reubin was counted twice in the 1860 census; and these two records refer to the same guy. Reuben Debord marr Lucretia Zumwalt on 12 Aug 1860 in Lavaca Co TX. Reuben served in the Indian Wars in TX in 1854 and 1855 and also the Civil War. His widow filed pension application in 1907 for Reuben's service in the Indian wars; indexed as Reuben Debord Capt Henry's Co C, Mounted Batt, Texas Volunteers. Reubin may have had two children; Charles R. b ca 1862 and Ada b ca 1865. Do you know what part of Texas your ancesters were from? Basically, there were Debord families around Lavaca in the 1850's; another Debord family around Hopkins Co in the 1850's; then a Deborde family around Limestone in the 1870's. If you know where your ancesters were from in TX; it would help to narrow it down between these three families. Also a DeBard family in Anderson Co TX in the 1850's.

The story I've heard is that Reubin died of Yellow fever shortly after the Civil war ended.
