I would like to correspond with you off line about this family. Please contact me at (that is lsol as in Lakeshore On Line).

My grandparents were the family that took Lucille in and raised her. I have just recently learned about Lucille's natural born family. I would like to exchange information with you. Lucille's mother's name was Dollie May A. Gaddy b: 6 JUN 1891 in Walnut Grove, Greene Co., MO.

Lucille married and moved to California. The Harper family lost contact with her after my grandparents died. Here is the information I had when I first started my search.

"The Harper Family moved to Oklahoma in early 1925 from Ozark County, Missouri. Jonathan Ela (the father), Coy (son), and Roy (son) drove teams and wagons through with house hold goods. Fred Martin (Ollie's husband) also came with them. Rebecca Lourannie (the mother), Hubert (son), Lucille (foster daughter); Lucy (Coy's wife) and her children Herman, Maxine, and Howard; Ollie (daughter) and her children Lorene, Alaska, and Mattie Lee; Alaska (Roy's wife) and her daughter Faye all went by train. They landed in Catoosa, Oklahoma. Lucille (foster daughter) was a girl that Ela and Rebecca raised. Her father died, leaving her mother with no means to raise all of the children. Neighbors took the children. Lucille took the last name of Harper, but there was no legal adoption. Her family name is unknown. Eventually, her mother remarried and went about collecting the children. Lucille did not want to leave Ela and Rebecca and her mother allowed her to remain with them. Lucille married Freeman Herd and was last known to be living in California."

As I said above, I now know who Lucille's family was, but still learning more about this very interesting story.

Please contact me.
