I went back through the divorce decree and other papers and this is what I found. Christopher and Stella were married on November 1 1925, parted ways on October 1, 1928, and officially divorced on June 14, 1944. According to the divorce decree they only had one child--Florence DeBoard--born sometime between 1925 and 1928. However, by the time of the divorce, Marie Christine DeBoard would have already been adopted (for about ten years) and so she was not included in the divorce papers. Marie Christine DeBoard was born on January 25, 1928, meaning that Florence would have been the older sister born some time in early 1926 through mid 1927.
Documentation that Marie Christine is part of this family comes from the adoption papers provided by the Illinois Childrens Aid Society. They state that "for a time Stella worked in families and tried to support her two girls but soon had to give up Marie." Also, the official register of births, sangamon county illinois, states tath there are two child born alive and now living.
At the time of Marie's birth the address given by both parents is 827 East Reynolds, Springfield Illinois. The last known address in 1932 when the adoption was finalized was as follows: Stella - 809 South Walnut; Christopher: Ozark, Missouri; Box 184; c/0 Bill Shirley.
I am sure that we are talking about the same family! Since you stated that you have a picture of Florence at age three, I am assuming that you are a descendent of Florence. As state before, I am the granddaughter of Marie Christine. Please contact me! I am anxiously awaiting your reply.
