Joel Franklin DeBoard, my great grandfather, moved to Howell County, MO after serving in the Mississippi river campaigns during the Civil War. His war diary was donated to the Illinois State Archives about 10 years ago. He had several sons including Adrian, Andy and Lewis (my grandfather). Family members and friends of the Lewis DeBoard family have gathered annually since 1951 at noon on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend for a picnic on the grounds of the Center Hill Church, 5 miles south of Mountain View, MO. We enjoyed a warm time of fellowship yesterday.
