adrian, i've been away from this site for some time and just now got back to it. a post from quite a while ago, perhaps even a couple of years ago, suggested that james deboarde, born 1666 to james and ann in berwick upon tweed, northumbria, england. he reportedly came to jamaica as an apprentice to a cooper. he married in richmond, va in about 1700. don't know exactly how accurate all that is, but hope it helps.
